I spent some time today playing a naughty internet game with blog friends that required searching for...oh never mind... Don't ask.  Anyway, as I was closing my computer down tonight, I stumbled on a link that was titled
FUCK A SLUT
Imagine my surprise to see MY profile picture there along with several other women in the Oceanside area. WTH???..Slut???....REALLY???...By whose definition????
Because I posted face pics from the start, I have strived to always conduct myself as a lady, while keeping it real. This is an adult site, and I'm not oblivious to that.
I admit, I'm HIGHLY pissed right now, so this post may go down when I've cooled off...I'm mainly pissed at the site for putting me on a SLUT list for the world to see without my KNOWN consent. I signed up to Adult FriendFinder...I did NOT sign up on the FUCK A SLUT website... Or passion or get it on... I am a paid GOLD member on Adult FriendFinder...
I have been here out in the open without a second thought. I'm an adult, and I'm totally single. I have ZERO to hide in being here. My fury and disbelief is the categorizing of me and ALL women on this site... as sluts. Who the hell gets that moral authority?
I've been thinking for awhile that my days here are drawing near, but I cannot believe my profile has been used so unscrupulously. Please don't lecture me about being naive. Not now...Lecturing comments will get deleted.
I have always wanted to keep a face pic on my main profile pic so you could SEE the person leaving a comment on your blog....The REAL me... This is especially true for the standard members who only get tiny pics to view. A couple of you are my friends, on and offline, and a few of have been there for me through good times and bad. I guess it was vain of me. I just like knowing what folks look like, so I have tried to be upfront about what I look like, and that carried over from my single days when I was looking for a partner. I don't know that I can continue to do this.
I am working the next few days again, but don't be surprised if you see changes on my profile and blog. I have to read the TOU with fresh eyes, and scrutinize my settings with a fine tooth comb. I'm not shutting down my profile at this point. Practically speaking I realize that I have probably been on the FUCK A SLUT list for longer than I care to imagine.
Just a heads up to those that have your pics out there, you may want to check your settings carefully.
Til then...this site is changing folks, and frankly, I don't like the changes I've seen. Tonight is only the impetus for me to post these concerns, but I've been feeling this since way for awhile.
I'm not sure I'm right for this place. I may be naughty, but I have always lived by my own morals and standards. I'm many things, but I'm not a slut in the context here.
Right now, I'm pissed enough to spit nails. ..

Work Place Bullying vs Playground Bullying

Today, I'd like to talk a little about bullying. It's become a hot topic in my world in more ways than one recently.
There are multiple ways people get bullied. One is the direct physical bullying we think of as playground bullying. With adolescence, lies and rumors become another form of attack. Regardless of which form it takes, bullying starts early on, and it's a nightmare for parents to figure out how to address and protect their child from getting picked on and attacked. It's also hard to gauge initially, if its just kids being kids and something they need to learn how to work out on their own.
Meanwhile, most kids don't know how to talk about the complexities of bullying. They don't know or understand why they are being picked on; they just know the isolation and mocking HURTS, and it's scary as hell, especially when you are little and still innocent!
At work, I am having to face a situation with 2 highly qualified nurses ...One is a true clinical whiz and the other could be but has attitude and social problems. (just my opinion).. Both nurses are bullying some of the younger nurses when they are in the role of relief charge nurse. The attacks malign the young nurse's clinical reputation with staff,physicians, and sometimes even the families, cutting her confidence with cunning and manipulation. They undermine her authority behind her back, while brow beating her publicly with chiding remarks... all with an innocent smile and feigned look of genuine concern on their faces....It's ugly and vicious...Until there's a pattern, like with kids, it's hard to initially recognize or call Bullshit on without wondering if it's an isolated incident or indicative of a bigger problem. There's always two sides to every story, so the bully automatically gets the public upperhand of being given the benefit of the doubt. That's part of what makes the manipulation in this type of situation so insidious.
Bullying is so much an issue that my hospital has made all staff take an in service on the topic. Knowledge and recognition is the first step but STOPPING it is where the challenge lies.
Two questions my pervy and brilliant sounding board:
1. With regards to kids, if a child is being tormented and gets suckered punched like I once did, which approach do you think is best? Teach the child to fight back, or walk away from the situation? (You know there won't be an adult in the immediate area, so this is the crux. How should a child handle at the moment they are attacked. Fight or flight????.....
How should the parent handle it? (Beating the crap out of the bully is not an option. Do you think talking to the parents will really help?
2. With regards to work place bullying. Beating the crap out the manipulators is still not an option. Do you have any thoughts to share? In this specific case, the bully is the highest educated nurse with multiple degrees. (There is a tag team issue here but that's to hard to get into this one post.) This is clearly a case of subterfuge and worse, nurses "eating their young", which my profession is known to do. *Coaching* the bullies to cease this behavior is unlikely to work, especially given how difficult *intent* is to prove.
Your thoughts please.

I went to the gym last night. (About damn time...) When a local Marine got out of his SUV while I was chatting on the phone, this is what I saw.
I love my country, and I am so grateful for those that serve. 
I never appreciated this nearly as much until I moved to this area.
As a nurse working in a hospital not terribly far from Camp Pendleton, I could tell you triumphant and tragic stories that could make you shiver....
Anyway...
To the young Marine who'll never know how much this touched me, I'm so happy you are home too!

I have my first e-reader. My old girl eyes are SOOOO happy. I'm currently reading several books, including a new one called Intimacy and Desire. For the last 2 days I've had emails lost, comments would not post, and for a while yesterday, the blogs were completely down. I could read other blogger's posts, but my blog page said Future blog of Softsheets. An hour later, my blog reappeared as if nothing happened.
Is anyone else noticing this stuff or is it maybe just on the west coast?
Lastly, what do you think about the new videos on the main page and new Hot viewer with a Like button?...

Services I wish the grocery store offered

1. I wish my grocery list would sync with the cash register, so when I forget the ONE THING I desperately needed in my *BIG* shopping trip, the cash register would
DING DING DING...Psssttt...Hey,you forgot trash bags and TP.
2. I wish the bathrooms were not at the back of the store.... in the ice cold refrigerated section. Just sayin!
3. I wish the produce dept put directions on how to tell if common fruit is ripe. I know certain things like pineapple. But I can never remember how to tell if a watermelon or cantaloupe is ripe, or needs another week to ripen. If I cut it too soon, it goes to waste. This really burns me up.
4. I wish there weren't displays in the middle of aisle for me to trip over like yesterday with 20 boxes of Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa falling on my head in front of the world to see. Safety people!!! *Sheesh*
Well, I'm off to the store to get trash bags and TP!

P.S. I deleted my briarpatch post. Heartfelt thanks for the kind supportive comments. I really have missed you too, but talking about my sister was just too personal to leave up. Funny, I have no problem with posting my face pics, but some subjects leave me feeling over exposed. That topic is one of them. Seriously big hugs and deepest thanks. Your words meant alot, and it really does feel good to be back....Back to my real post topic.
We have a weather pattern in Southern California that's referred to as May Gray and June Gloom. It's when the marine cloud layer rolls in overnight leaving the mornings cloudy and overcast. It creates a great atmosphere for snuggling up with a good book. (I'm currently reading 50 Shades of Grey right now...OMG...HOT HOT HOT)
But I digress. The clouds typically burn off so the afternoons are warm & sunny, which is how I like it best. I've always wanted to go to Seattle, but I don't think I'd want to live anywhere that was always cloudy or rainy. It's just too depressing, and I don't get near as much done when the weather is gloomy. I like staying on the go, but with the weather overcast, it tends to make me sluggish and lackadaisical.
Do you find the weather affects your mood and activity level?
Do you have any remarkable weather patterns that makes your area interesting?

I love arched stained glass windows

While I'm not a fan of tiffany style lamps or the stuffy ornate stained glass windows we see in churches, I do love a pretty arched stained glass window. I especially love them above an entry way or in a master bathroom. I will have a stained glass piece for my home someday. Nothing big or ostentatious, but I do think they brighten a room.
I also love nice trim and pretty door frames. Did I tell you I once had 2 miter boxes and learned how to install crown moulding all by myself, from the HOW to book from Home Depot?...I am scared shitless of power saws, so it took me countless practice pieces....a measly ole month and a half to get one room done, but I did it!!
Crown moulding is probably the hardest DIY job I ever did. It looks easy enough and really pretty, but the angles and calculations were a nightmare! I'm pretty sure my mouth should have gotten washed out with soap with all the bad words I used on that project...I mean, the REALLY big bad words that you only think in your head when you jubilantly cut the final piece to 1/32", just to find you cut the wrong angle ...But I did a pretty damn good job for a newbie. Thank heavens for my handy dandy caulk gun to hide those itsy bitsy gaps that jumped out and screamed...OOPSY
Are you a DIY person or do you prefer to call a professional?
What's the toughest job you ever tackled?

Not too long ago, I did a post on the best James Bond bad guy...EVER...
...
But there's another series I grew up with that I loved even more....BATMAN!!! ...Just like Star Wars, I'm old school with my TV super heroes , which means I'm a fan of the 1960's series with Adam West His uniform wasn't snazzy like the newer bad ass Batman's, but he had a certain charm that always left me feisty and wanting to go kick bad guy butt!
Is it wrong that I loved ALL the bad guys too? 
And... Cat Woman.... was purrfectly lovely.
