According to the latest research you need to emphasise your sensitive side to impress women. It's all down to, um, global economics...
Most of us know what women want in a man, right? They want a sense of humour. They want a man who knows his way around a toolbox. They want someone fit and sporty. They want intelligence and ambition. They want a man that other men look up to.
But while some of that might be true, some of the time, new research suggests that what women look for in men subtly changes in response to what else is going on in the world.
And right now, what many might really want is a man not afraid to show his sensitive side. That's what one new study says, anyway. Read on and see if you agree.
Money worries give 'safe' men the edge
According to the research, the biggest factor influencing who women fancy at the moment is not buff bodies or a gift of the gab, it's global economics.
But that doesn't mean they're looking for a wealthy sugar daddy to lavish them with gifts. When the economy goes bad, alpha males get ditched.
Researchers from Southampton Solent University asked over 150 women to view a series of online dating profiles containing information on the men's earning potential and status, and choose which they'd most like to date and which they thought would make the best marriage material.
Half the women were also primed to think of the recession by being given words to read beforehand connected with economic downturn.
The results were revealing. When they'd been primed to think about the economic situation, the women overwhelmingly plumped for men who didn't like to take risks and didn't like to take command. They were considered more reliable and sensitive.
And boring? "He wouldn't necessarily be boring. He might be very interesting but just comply with what the woman says," said Dr Fay Julal, the lead researcher.
"It is telling us that all men may be attractive at some time, given different economic settings."

Women worry alpha males are more likely to quickly move on
So why would women concerned with the state of the economy want to date these lower status men? Surely an alpha male with high status would be far more likely to look after them financially?
While that may be true, the researchers also theorised that the women - subconsciously at least - thought the wealthy high achievers among the dating profiles would be more likely to cheat or quickly move on.
That was a risk many of them clearly weren't prepared to take in current conditions. In an economic slump, they want a reliable bloke, sensitive to their needs, who will stick by them through thick and thin.
In evolutionary terms it makes sense. When resources are scarce, better to have a man who will bring home a few slices of bacon all the time rather than a man who will bring home the whole pig but give it to someone else. Evolution primes even childless women to make some decisions based on the wellbeing of potential offspring.

But tough alpha males shouldn't read the research and weep like babies (they wouldn't of course, that would be wimpy). Other studies have consistently shown that at certain times the raw appeal of a six-pack and a bulging wallet trumps just about every other consideration, even economics.
And that time is ovulation. A study published last year found that when women are at their most fertile they're more likely to fantasise about masculine-looking men.
Those masculine traits - like a pronounced chin, strong jaw, narrow eyes and well-defined brow - suggest a man has good genetic quality. Not only did he survive development, he had the extra energy to expend on producing manly looks. Those rugged genes would be passed on to any children.
At other times of the month, women seem to be more attracted to reliable, caring, sensitive types, who may not have the best genes but will at least stick around to help bring up the children.
Meanwhile, science can't make its mind up as to whether being on the Pill makes women more attracted to macho men or sensitive souls.
There's still space for the alpha male, research suggests
A study by psychologists at St Andrews and Stirling universities in Scotland suggests that since women on the Pill don't have to worry about reproduction, they tend to choose men to whom they are simply physically attracted. So masculine men win out.
But another study, published last year in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B, found that the Pill tends to even out the hormonal peaks and troughs of the female cycle, meaning that alpha males lose their advantage during the peak fertile period.
"The implications of our study seem to be that by changing your hormone profile through using the Pill, you might shift your preference away from cads in favour of dads," said Dr Craig Roberts, who led the research.
Sensitive men v macho men
So apart from the vagaries of individual preference, it seems that the men women fancy most is affected by a number of factors, from the timing of their monthly hormonal cycle to the state of global economics.
Which may seem confusing, but if the latest research is to be believed, there's a simple message for men. While finances are tight and job insecurity rife, emphasise your sensitive, reliable side as much as you can. Subconsciously or otherwise, she may be yearning for a bloke who will stick with her through the rough times.

According to science, men shouldn't really be attracted to older women. Evolution has primed men to fancy the most healthy, fertile women. For 'healthy and fertile', science would have you read 'young'. Evolutionary biologists are adamant: men want to date women the same age or younger than themselves.
Which begs one simple question: why are so many men attracted to older women?
The cougar phenomenon
We've all heard about the phenomenon of the cougar - an older woman who deliberately sets out to date younger men. We all know about celebrity cougars like Demi Moore and her relationship with Ashton Kutcher. We've all heard of toy boys.
And statistics show that this is not just a media invention. The BBC has reported that 25% of older women are married to younger men. In America, 30% of older women date men who are younger than themselves.
So it's certainly happening. We're not questioning the motives, either. The only question that interests us - from a man's point of view - is why?
Older women look younger these days
First of all, none of this disproves the theory that we are genetically hardwired to fancy young women. There may be a growing number of older-woman-younger-man relationships, but the inverse is still far more common.
Men do tend to want young women, and young women do appreciate the experience and resources older men can offer.
But as far as our evolutionary instincts are concerned, it has become far more difficult to spot an older woman. Healthy eating and all those zumba classes, as well as sophisticated beauty regimes and botox, mean older women look suspiciously like younger ones, certainly to our subconscious scanners.
Older women can behave younger

They're also more likely to behave like younger women, which can confuse any right-thinking man. "These women are alive, vibrant, want to dance, love current music, technology, exercise and eat healthier," says psychologist Dr Fayr Barkley, an expert on cougar relationships. "They want a younger man who can keep up with them."
In a nutshell, many older women look great and are full of vim, so what's not to fancy?
There's also the possibility that some younger men are playing out the psychosexual imprinting that happened years earlier. That sounds complex, but it simply means that a much-loved babysitter, nursery teacher or family friend may have planted a seed that blossoms today as a penchant for older women.
Biology isn't everything
Experts also suggest that, though biology is important, it isn't everything. We can override our hardwiring if the goal is important enough. And to a growing number of young men, a sophisticated and sexy older woman is so attractive a proposition that it puts callow youth and shallow beauty in the shade.

To some very young men, the attraction might simply be based on an adolescent Mrs Robinson fantasy that hasn't gone away. Mrs Robinson is Dustin Hoffman's older seductress in the film The Graduate.
"The younger men fall into one of two categories," says Barkley. "The first is what I have termed 'The Myth of Stifler's Mom' after the movie American Pie. These are younger men who think the mature woman exists to somehow fulfil their adolescent male sexual fantasies."
And that, she says, is unlikely to happen. Contrary to popular opinion, older women want far more from their younger boyfriends than energetic sex. And apparently, they have plenty of choice.
"There are far more younger men looking for older women than there are older women who are available to date younger men. So the women can afford to be very selective," says Barkley.
What men want
So if the hordes of cougar-loving young men aren't just out to satisfy basic sexual curiosity, what do they want from relationships with older women?
Well, sex is, of course, important. An older woman might not be a Mrs Robinson type, but she may well be experienced, experimental and unembarrassed, which can be huge turn-ons in themselves.
Some men can tire of women their own age in the dating game
It might also be true, says Barkley, that some young men find women of their own age, and perhaps the 20-something dating scene altogether, shallow and manipulative, with too much game-playing and not enough sincerity. They turn to older women to get out of a cycle of bad dates.
And what they turn to, she says, is "the depth, maturity and spirit of the older woman". In her research, Barkley has interviewed thousands of men who say they're attracted to older women for just these reasons.
But what does depth and maturity bring? It brings a measure of financial independence, for a start. An older woman won't expect you to pay for every date. Older women also have a lot of experiences to relate, and plenty to talk about. They're interesting and even inspirational.
Many younger men also report that older women are more emotionally stable and less likely to jump ship at the first hint of trouble. They know what they want, and realise that you sometimes have to work to get it.
All of which makes for a pretty alluring package. It's true that some men have always been attracted to the maturity, intelligence and sheer classiness of older women, and it seems that more and more of us are coming round to the idea that youth (for all its in-your-face benefits) isn't everything. Maybe Ashton Kutcher is on to something...

There are not many things that I do not like but another word that is getting my goat is the word FRIEND, it is falling into line with the word LOVE. These words seem to roll off peoples tongues so easy without a thought or a care what they really mean.
May be I should change, show a picture of my cock (magnifier will be sent on request), or showing me pulling myself off, showing my arse or even telling you how good I am in bed which you will never forget and want more, if you want a good fucking then am your man.
